Adult Leaders

Guiding is an opportunity - Guiding gives you the chance to help the next generation to learn to live and grow into adults equipped to cope with the joys, the anxieties, the fears and the demands of life.

Adults wishing to become Leaders in the Irish Girl Guides must complete a screening process. Further information can be found in the IGG Screening section.

New Leaders and Assistant Leaders will be invited to work towards their warrant. A warrant is a licence to be a recognised Leader in the Irish Girl Guides and to hold one you must be enrolled as a member. The warrant scheme is based on a period of service with a Unit and you can work on it as you go along. Further information can be found in the Adult Training section.

Leaders are required to have ongoing training. This is essential for Leaders to gain knowledge, understanding and skill in their particular role in Guiding and to carry out their responsibilities more effectively. Trainings are held on a local, regional and national level. Further information can be found in the Adult Training section.

The Irish Girl Guides is a uniformed organisation and we expect all of our youth members, Leaders and Assistant Leaders to wear the correct uniform for weekly meetings, official events and trainings. Full details on correct uniform can be found in the Membership section of the IGG Handbook or you can view the uniform page here. Leaders can still wear the old uniform up until January 2013 and details of this can be found here.

IGG appreciates its members and has in place a Membership Support Officer who can offer advice and support to all its members. You can read more information here.

Guiding provides an opportunity to meet, mix and socialise with women from all ages and walks of life.

This friendship may be extended through membership of Trefoil Guild.

Leaders between the ages of 18-26 years are also members of Senior Branch

Further information on becoming a Leader can be found in the Join IGG section.
